MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer had a tough time finding an offensive groove on Friday evening as the Blue Raiders fell 2-0 against the Old Dominion Monarchs at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
Senior Peyton DePriest led the Blue Raiders in shots with four total and the Blue Raiders two shots on goal. Junior Hannah Suder played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue Raiders, collecting a season second-best six saves in the contest.
The Blue Raiders struggled to find any good looks in the opening half, with the Monarchs outshooting the Blue Raiders 11-4, with none of the Blue Raiders looks going on target.
The Monarchs got on the board early scoring in the 15th minute after ODU's Yuliia Khrystiuk crossed a ball into the box, which Carla Morich headed in to give the Monarchs the 1-0 lead.
ODU continued to threaten the Blue Raiders keeper, putting five shots on target, before scoring their second goal of the contest in the 40th minute. Suder denied a Monarch attempt, but the ball fell right at the feet of Morich, who netted her second goal of the contest into the top right of the net.
Middle Tennessee came out of the locker room looking to try and cut the deficit. The Blue Raiders were able to match the Monarchs shot for shot over the final 45 minutes of the contest, 6-6, but the Blue Raiders just couldn't seem to find success as they were held scoreless for the first time of the 2021 campaign.
