Volleyball Continues Conference USA Play at Marshall

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After starting conference play off last weekend sweeping the Charlotte series, the Blue Raiders head up to Huntington, West Virginia for matches against Marshall on Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2.
Middle Tennessee (4-4, 2-0) at Marshall (4-11, 0-2)
- Friday, October 1 at 5 p.m. CT – ESPN+
- Saturday, October 2 at 1 p.m. CT – ESPN+
- Hosted at Cam Henderson Center – Huntington, West Virginia
- Marshall leads the series 9-3 with the Blue Raiders on a one win-streak against the Herd.
- The Blue Raiders have yet to win a match at Marshall.
About the Blue Raiders
- With five players out due to injuries, the Blue Raiders found a way to sweep the weekend series against Charlotte with wins of 3-1 and 3-2 last weekend. 15 career-highs were set or tied during the two matches.
- Redshirt sophomore Marley Banton won C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, averaging 6.33 digs/set against Charlotte, breaking her career-high in digs on Friday with 27 and then following it up with an even better mark of 30 on Saturday. Banton also tied her career-high of four services aces for the seventh time on Friday.
- Middle Tennessee is 3-2 since having to take a 20-day break from play due to Covid-19 protocol and injuries. The team canceled five matches and postponed another during the time off.
- Taylor Eisert's 106 assists in two matches against Charlotte, including a career-high 56 on Saturday, helped set up seven players with 10+ kill matches.

Tale of the Tape: Marshall Thundering Herd
- Marshall is on a four-match losing streak currently, getting swept by nationally-ranked in-conference foe Western Kentucky twice over the weekend.
- The Herd has a stout defense, with total block rankings of first in the nation and conference, and a team dig ranking of eighth nationally and third in the conference.
- Graduate student Destiny Leon sets the tone on defense with 77.0 blocks and 1.31 blocks/set and leads the team's full-time starters in attack percentage at .297. Her 112 kills and 163.5 points are second on the team behind the team's attack-workhorse, Ciara Debell.
