Blue Raiders Opening Indoor Season at Commodore Challenge

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track and field team is finally kicking off its 2021 indoor season this Friday, January 14, and Saturday, January 15, at the Commodore Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders are looking to bounce back from last year's indoor season conclusion as the women placed 10th and the men took fifth at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Individually, the team had a few great performances winning four events. Sophomore Omamuyovwi Erhire was named C-USA Freshman of the Year after his strong showing, finishing second in the triple jump and the high jump. Brian Rono was second in the 800-meter.
Graduate student Esther Isa brought home two championships, winning the high jump with an effort of 1.78 meters, and the triple jump with a 13.09 effort. Isa wasn't the only Blue Raider female student-athlete to win gold. Graduate students Cecilia Francis won the 60-meter with a time of 7.46 and Eusila Chepkemei finished first in the 800-meter with a time of 2:10.65.
Meet Information
The Meet start's Friday with field events from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Then the running events follow that up and will go on till around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, field events start at 11:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. Running events will start in the middle of the field events at 12:00 p.m. and will go on till 4:00 pm. in the afternoon.
