Women’s Tennis Fall in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis (1-3) drops both matches in Nashville against Vanderbilt (1-0) 0-7 and Belmont (1-0) 1-5.
The Blue Raiders spent the day 33 miles up I-24 competing in two true road games against the Commodores and the Bruins. MT and Vanderbilt completed a full dual match, playing out all three doubles sets and six singles matches. Against Belmont, coaches decided before the match to only compete in singles.
The Commodores blanked the Blue Raiders winning all on all three doubles courts to gain the advantage heading into singles. In singles, Middle Tennessee dropped all six courts to give VU the 7-0 sweep.
Against Belmont, Zani Barnard picked up her second individual win on the Blue Raider top court this season in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Junior Muskan Gupta took her opponent to three set but eventually falling 5-7, 6-4, 1-6. Senior Lee Barnard also fell in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 3-6. The Bruins won three other singles matches over the Blue Raiders, giving Belmont its first win over Middle Tennessee in program history.

MT is back in action on Jan. 23 when they travel to Chattanooga to face to Mocs at 6:00 p.m. inside the UTC Tennis Center.
