Three Blue Raiders Pick up Wins

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis (4-1) falls to #21 Mississippi State (1-0) inside the Rula Tennis Pavilion 5-2.

Graduate Students Chris Edge and Stepan Holis continued their tear on the doubles court No. 3 with a 6-1 decision to get the dual match started. The Bulldog duo of Florian Broska and Gregor Ramskogler bested the MT top court with #44 Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump 6-1. The doubles point came down to court No. 2 where Francisco Rocha and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen won in style 7-6 (7-4), giving MT the 1-0 advantage heading into singles.

To open singles play, #21 MSU controlled the first set winning five of the six courts, #30 Slump picked up the only Blue Raider win in set one 7-6 (7-3). In the second set, Middle Tennessee kept the match close by staying within two points of their adversaries on all six courts. Despite the effort by MT, Mississippi State won five of six singles courts to come back and win the dual match.

Brostrom Poulsen picked up the only singles point on the day for the Blue Raiders, the freshman from Denmark defeated MSU's Alberto Colas in three sets 6-7 (2-7), 7-5, 3-0 retired.

Next up
The Blue Raiders have five days to recover from today's match and regroup before hitting the road again to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Charlottesville, Va. against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 9:00 a.m. ET.
