East Tennessee State bests MT in Home Opener

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis (1-5) falls to in-state foe East Tennessee State (1-4) in the home opener Friday afternoon inside the Adams Tennis Complex, 0-7.
ETSU opened the match winning on all three doubles courts to give the Bucs the one point advantage over MT heading into singles.
The Blue Raiders dropped five out of six first singles sets, Sophomore Lilly-Sophie Schmidt was the only Blue Raider able to claim a first singles set.
In the second singles set, Junior Muskan Gupta similarly was the only Blue Raider to claim her game, winning 6-2. However, ETSU clinched the victory at the 4-0 mark and after continuation on the unfinished courts, the Bucs completed a 7-0 sweep of MT.

Middle Tennessee will travel to Evansville, Ind. to square off with another in-state foe Austin Peay (0-2) on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Wesselman Tennis Center.
