Rhoda set the new 25-point era single-season record with 46 aces
BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team took on FAU for their fifth match of the Conference USA season on Friday. The Blue Raiders won the serve-receive battle to go along with holding the Owls to a hitting percentage of .154, their third lowest percentage of the season.
The Blue Raiders (13-6, 2-3 C-USA) swept the Florida Atlantic Owls (12-7, 1-5 C-USA), with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-22. The Blue Raiders hit .250 on the night, with their highest set percentage being .273 in the final set while holding the Owls to their lowest on the day at .026. The part of the three-set sweep that stuck out the most was the runs that the Blue Raiders were able to go on, including five runs with four or more points scored in-a-row and holding the Owls to 23 one-and-dones throughout the night.
Freshman Adri Rhoda was able to break the 25-point rally scoring era record for single-season service aces, pushing the record from 44 to 46 and counting. Rhoda also led the Blue Raiders on the day with 10 kills (10-3-21) on a .333 attack percentage. Junior Taylor Eisert had an all-around great game for the Blue Raiders, racking up 28 assists and three service aces in-a-row in the second set that deflated any hope for the Owls.
By the Numbers
.600: Senior Kaylee Oscarson led the Blue Raiders with an attack percentage of .600 (7-1-10).
46: Rhoda is the first Blue Raider since 2007 to record 46 or more service aces in a season. If she reached 51 this season, she would be the first Blue Raider since 1996 to do so.
