MTSU Splits Season Series with the FIU Panthers

MIAMI, Fla. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team took on FIU for their sixth match of the Conference USA season on Sunday. The Blue Raiders out blocked the Panthers and were even out-serving them by a large margin to start but eventually dropped the match in the fifth set.
The Blue Raiders (13-7, 2-4 C-USA) came up short in a five-set battle to the FIU Panthers (5-15, 2-5 C-USA), with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 19-25, 27-25, and 25-22. The Blue Raiders hit .224 on the night, with their highest set percentage being .400 in the fourth set while racking up 10 total blocks. One of the deciding factors in the end was the nine aces allowed in sets three, four, and five.
Freshman Adri Rhoda led the Blue Raiders on the day with 15 kills (15-5-50) and three service aces to go along with her four blocks. Senior Marley Banton had a season-high 26 digs in today's match for a 5.2 digs per set average. Banton also had eight assists and a service ace.

Blue Raider Notes
- Rhoda has 49 service aces on the season already, giving her first place on the 25-point scoring era records list. Rhoda sits in sole possession of 10th on the all-time single season list, just one ace away from tying Alicia Lemau'u who had 50 aces in 2007.
- Banton currently sits at 1,164 career digs, needing 30 more digs to tie the current 25-point era program record for digs in a career at 1,194.
