The Blue Raiders Drop a Friday Night Match with UAB

MIAMI, Fla. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team faced off with UAB for the second time this season Friday night. The Blue Raiders were outhitting the Blazers by a large margin in the first set and ended the night hitting .259 but weren't able to scrape together a set win.
The Blue Raiders (13-8, 2-5 C-USA) dropped all three sets to the UAB Blazers (9-11, 4-4 C-USA), with set scores of 22-25, 23-25, and 12-25. MTSU hit .259 but allowed 10 service aces compared to the Blue Raiders five on the night. The Blue Raider defense also gave up a hitting percentage of .382 to the Blazers.
Freshman Adri Rhoda played a clean night with 11 kills (11-1-21) on a .476 hitting percentage. Rhoda also had two aces and a career-high nine digs. Senior Kaylee Oscarson was second on the team tonight with a .333 hitting percentage (5-2-9).

10: The Blue Raiders' 10 receiving errors outdid UAB's by five on the night, proving to be one of the biggest deciding factors in the match.
51: Rhoda's two service aces on the night puts her at 51 on the season, making her the first Blue Raider since 1996 to reach this mark. She moves up to ninth on the all-time list, moving her past Alicia Lemau'u who had 50 aces in 2007.

- Banton currently sits at 1,174 career digs, needing 20 more digs to tie the current 25-point era program record for digs in a career at 1,194.
