MTSU Rolls Past the Lady Techsters in a Sweep on Friday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team faced off with Louisiana Tech for their first match of the weekend. The Blue Raiders had a great day in the office offensively and defensively, hitting .352 as a team and holding the Lady Techsters to .149.
The Blue Raiders (14-9, 3-6 C-USA) bounced back from a three-loss streak, sweeping LA Tech (10-15, 3-7 C-USA), with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-22. The first and third set had a combined two tied scores and no lead changes, seeing the Blue Raiders dominate those sets with ease. The Blue Raiders had 43 kills to the Lady Techsters 32 on the night to go along with the six to three service ace difference.
Three Blue Raiders led the team with nine kills on Friday. Senior Kaylee Oscarson was as efficient as you can ask for hitting a team leading .667 clip. Senior Kayla Henley lit a fire under the team multiple times with her .571 hitting percentage and three blocks. Redshirt sophomore Melisa Töre hit home three aces to lead the team from the service line.

.733: In the third set Henley, Rhoda, and Smith combined for 11 kills (11-0-15) on a .733 hitting percentage to close out the match.
72%: The Blue Raiders had an outstanding sideout percentage of 72% in the sweep.

Blue Raider Notes
- Rhoda has 55 service aces on the season already, giving her first place on the 25-point scoring era records list and eighth on the all-time list. She needs two more aces to take seventh on the all-time list and 36 to take first place.
- Banton currently sits at 1,188 career digs, needing six more digs to tie the current 25-point era program record for digs in a career at 1,194.
