Blue Raiders Welcome Louisiana Tech for Sunday Matinee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In each of their past two matches, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have erased a one-goal halftime deficits to earn draws. Against the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters on Sunday, MTSU will look to continue its point-earning streak while seeking its first win this season in Conference USA play.
Kirsteen Lykke scored for the Blue Raiders in the 73rd minute at Charlotte on Thursday night as MTSU took a point in the Queen City. And against rivals Western Kentucky on Oct. 2, it was Emma Pettersen that equalized the match in the 47th minute to ultimately seal a 1-1 draw at home.
Kickoff against the Lady Techsters is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.

Middle Tennessee had a conference season-high 12 total shots on Thursday at Charlotte, which also represents their highest overall figure since Sept. 8 against Tennessee Tech. Eleanor Gough had five of these shots to lead the team, while Pettersen's two shots on target were also a team-high.

The Blue Raiders and Lady Techsters will meet Sunday for the first time since 2017. In that match five years ago on the MTSU campus, the Raiders fell 3-2 despite two first half goals from then-freshman Peyton DePriest.

Middle Tennessee added two new coaches during the offseason in Zak Davis and Hannah Hoefs.
Davis joins the Blue Raiders after serving as the assistant women's soccer coach at George Washington University for the past four seasons. Over his four seasons with the Colonials, Davis helped lead GW to a 33-27-9 overall record and a 20-14-4 mark in A-10 play.
Before arriving in Murfreesboro, Hoefs coached at Shenandoah University for a year and a half during two different stints with the Hornets. Hoefs began her collegiate coaching career when she first joined the coaching staff at Shenandoah in June 2020 following her standout career as a midfielder at Loyola University of Maryland.
