MTSU XC to Run in the NCAA South Regionals on Friday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders men's and women's cross country will compete at the NCAA South Regional in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, November 11. Races will be held at the John Hunt Cross Country Course and the meet is hosted by North Alabama.
The women's 6K will kick things off at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 10K at 9:30 a.m. CT. Championships awards will be distributed immediately following the men's event. Friday's meet will be streamed on YouTube.
Traveling on the women's side will be Joice Jebor, Mercy Chepkurui, Agnes Chepkurui, Naomy Limatukei, Lesego Mpshe, and Zaila Smith. On the men's side, the Blue Raiders will only be bringing along Hillary Kimaiyo, Koos Molutsi, and Habtamu Geta.

The women fell short of a fourth conference championship title in-a-row after a second-place finish with 54 points. Graduate student J. Jebor led the Blue Raiders with a fourth-place finish and a time of 21:17.4. Jebor earned her fifth XC First Team All-Conference USA honor (ninth All-Conference USA honor of her career) and took home the Outstanding Senior honor for the women's side. Senior M. Chepkurui finished right behind Jebor in fifth with a time of 21:31.2, giving her a First Team All-Conference USA nod, her fourth all conference honor in cross country.
Per usual, senior Hillary Kimaiyo led the way for the men with a sixth-place finish and a time of 24:33.0. Kimaiyo was the lone Blue Raider on the men's side to earn First Team All-Conference USA honors.
