Middle Tennessee Baseball has finalized its 2022 signing class. Every week, goblueraiders.com will take a closer look at each future Blue Raider. This week's spotlight is on Clay Badylak.
Clay Badylak - SS/MIF
6-0 | 190
Cincinnati, OH
Entering his second season at Frontier Community College in Fairfield, Ill., Badylak batted .355, drove in 16 RBI and stole seven bases with the Bobcats in 2022.
Badylak accumulated a list of honors at McNicholas High School as a three sport athlete. On the baseball diamond, Badylak batted .360 his senior season after previously batting .431 his sophomore season and .462 his freshman year.
In the summer, Badylak played for the Midland Redhawks, who won the 2021 Grand Slam World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla.
Badylak comes from a family full of athletes. His mom, Julie, played volleyball at St. Louis University, his dad, Chris, played baseball at Xavier University, his sister Kaycie, plays basketball at Baldwin Wallace and several members of his extended family are or were college athletes.
"Clay is an outstanding defensive middle infielder with a proven track record at the junior college level," Blue Raider head coach Jerry Meyers said. "He will provide an immediate impact up the middle defensively with his elite defensive skill set. At the plate, he fills a need by adding a left-handed bat. He has great bat to ball skills and the ability to hit for gap power. He knows how to run the bases and will fit into our offensive system perfectly."
The Cincinnati native plans to major in business at MTSU. You can follow him on Twitter (@ClayBadylak2) and Instagram (@clay.badylak).
