MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's golf will add Joseph Agee of Cookeville to its roster for the 2023-24 season, head coach Mark McEntire announced today.
"Joseph is an incredible athlete and mature beyond his years," McEntire said. "He has the work ethic and the goals that will lead him and everyone around him to become better.
"He's had success in multiple sports throughout high school, and we look forward to seeing that success on and off the course here at MT. His potential is unlimited, and his swing instructor, Jason Gandy, has done a great job so far in helping him realize that. We're super excited to have him join our program."
Agee was under par in 25 of 28 rounds played for Cookeville High School, setting a school record with a scoring average of 68. He is a two-time All-State selection, a three-time All-District honoree and a three-time All-Region selection. He has two district titles to his credit.
Standing 6-foot-8, Agee is 4-for-4 in qualifying for AJGA tournaments and made the cut at the Tennessee Amateur Championship.
Agee comes from a long line of college and professional athletes. His father, Robert Agee, played basketball and golf at the University of Florida and later played pro golf. His maternal grandfather, Ralph Broyles, played football at Tennessee and Tennessee Tech and is a member of the TTU Hall of Fame. His paternal grandfather played fullback at Vanderbilt and was drafted by the then-Chicago Cardinals. Agee's great-grandfather played baseball at Vanderbilt and in the minor leagues.
