Middle Tennessee Baseball has finalized its 2022 signing class. Every week, goblueraiders.com will take a closer look at each future Blue Raider. This week's spotlight is on Eric Harper.
Eric Harper - SS/MIF
5-10 | 160
Brentwood, Tenn.
Harper has batted over .320 in each of the past two seasons at Nolensville High School, including finishing the 2022 season slashing .400 AVG/.489 OBP/.582 SLG. The middle infielder stole 21 bases, hit seven doubles, five triples and scored 40 runs.
During his sophomore season, Harper finished with a .906 OPS along with nine doubles and 29 RBI. Harper earned all-region honors in football as a junior and first team all-district in baseball in 2022.
Harper has played travel ball for Southeast Rawlings Mad Mavericks.
The son of Danielle and former NFL defensive back Nick Harper Sr., Eric joins the list of collegiate student-athletes in the family as his oldest brother Nick Harper Jr. finished out his collegiate career as a defensive back at Tennessee State while his second oldest brother Darius is currently a senior defensive back at Tennessee State.
"Eric Harper has a lot of the qualities we look for in a young infielder," Middle Tennessee head coach Jerry Meyers said. "He possesses very good actions and instincts that will enable him to play middle infield in Conference USA. He looks to develop as a strong offensive threat as well. His swing mechanics are solid and his strength and quickness will undoubtedly be an asset. We also love the fact that Eric has been a multi-sport athlete that has competed year-round. He will be a great addition to our program and we look forward to his arrival."
Harper plans to major in business at MTSU. You can follow Eric on Twitter (@EricHarper21) and Instagram (@ericharper_21).
