Women’s Tennis Split Matches in North Texas

DENTON, Texas – Middle Tennessee women's tennis (6-7, 1-2) is victorious over UTSA on Saturday evening 4-1. One day later, suffers a defeat to North Texas 6-1 at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders will return to Murfreesboro at 1-1 on the weekend against Conference USA opponents.
Against UTSA, MT clinched the doubles point finding victories on court Nos. 1 and 3. In singles, Zani Barnard, Noelle Mauro, and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt all earned two-set singles victories to give the Blue Raiders the four-point threshold needed to close the match.
In the dual match versus North Texas, the Blue Raiders fell on the doubles front dropping two close matches.
In singles against the Mean Green, Z. Barnard picked up another win on court No. 4 (6-4, 5-7, 12-10) to go 2-0 on the weekend. She was the only Blue Raider to triumph over UNT. Schmidt fell in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 4-6. The other four MT courts fell in two-sets.
Next up
MT returns to the Adams Tennis complex on Friday, Feb. 18 to square off with Samford. The Blue Raiders will play two home matches next weekend before leaving for an extended road-trip. After next weekend, the next MT women's home match will be on Saturday, April 16 against UAB, one week before its set to host the C-USA Championship.
