C-USA Release
DALLAS - Middle Tennessee's Kevin Jegers has been named the Conference USA Men's Golf Player of the Week for the second week in a row. The Blue Raider sophomore broke his own nine-day-old program record with a 54-hole score of 200 (-16) to win the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
The win was Jegers' second in as many tournaments this spring. After starting the third round strong with birdies on each of his first three holes, Jegers carded his lowest round of the tournament Tuesday with a 65 (-7), the lowest round of any individual in the tournament. He came one stroke shy of his season-low and two strokes off the program record while notching seven birdies and 11 pars. The Tallinn, Estonia, native holds a stroke average of 64.5 in final rounds this spring.
Jegers becomes the first Blue Raider ever to win back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week awards and the first two win multiple weekly honors in the same season since Chip Thomas did so in the 2016-17 season. This is the first time Middle Tennessee has had consecutive Player of the Week honorees since Tyler Johnson and Marcus Byrd went back-to-back in September 2017.
The Blue Raiders have a few weeks to prepare for their next tournament before heading to the Schenkel Invitational, hosted by Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., March 18-20.
