Chepkemei Breaks MT One Mile Record at BU Last Chance Meet

BOSTON – Four Blue Raiders competed at the Boston University Last Chance Meet in Boston on Sunday, placing three in first and one in second.
Eusila Chepkemei placed second in the women's one mile on Sunday with a personal-best and program-record time of 4:32.39. Chepkemei is only the eighth runner in the country to run a sub-4:34 time and heading into the weekend her time would rank fifth in the nation.
Esther Isa took first place in the women's high jump, being the only one in Boston to reach the 1.76m bar. Isa currently holds the 12th best mark in the triple jump and 37th highest mark for high jump in the nation.
Alaba Akintola had another great weekend sprinting, taking first with a sub-21 second 200-meter dash of 20.86 seconds. Akintola's program record of 20.72 seconds from last weekend is currently in the top 15 in the nation.
Benjamin Onyekwelu took first with a men's long jump length of 7.56m. Onyekwelu's best jump of the season is 7.71m which currently sits in 27th place in the nation.
Omamuyovwi Erhire was also supposed to tag along with the team this weekend but did not. Erhire currently holds the fifth best mark in the nation for the high jump and also the 45th best mark for the men's triple jump.
What's Next for the Blue Raiders?
Up next for the Blue Raiders is the 2022 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala., at the CrossPlex for qualifying individual performers.
