ODU, Charlotte next up for Lady Raiders

NORFOLK, Va. – Middle Tennessee women's basketball takes its four-game win streak on the road this week. The Lady Raiders' first stop is Old Dominion Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m., followed by Charlotte Feb. 13 at noon.
Middle Tennessee (16-4, 8-2 C-USA) continues to close in on Charlotte (12-7, 8-1 C-USA) for the top spot in the Conference USA east division. Old Dominion (17-5, 7-3 C-USA), meanwhile, sits in fourth place in the east.

The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team never let UAB find a rhythm, forcing the Blazers into 21 turnovers and holding them to just two 3-pointers en route to a dominant 75-55 win at the Murphy Center.
Anastasiia Boldyreva continued her impressive growth during conference play, scoring 15 points and blocking three Blazer shots. Dor Saar dropped 17 points while Courtney Whitson scored 16.
Putting Middle Tennessee on the map
How good has the Blue Raider defense been? The following is where Middle Tennessee ranks nationally in several categories.
● Third in the nation in opponent 3-point percentage (24 percent).
● Twenty-ninth in the country in scoring defense, holding opponents to 55.8 points per game.
Offensively, MT is sixth in 3-point field goals per game (9.7) and 16th in total 3-point field goals made (193). Whitson plays 38.7 minutes a game, which leads the country. Saar is tied for 30th in 3-point field goals made (55).

● Middle Tennessee has made 18 consecutive postseason appearances.
● MT is 113-33 vs. C-USA members since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season.
● This season's roster includes five international players from five different countries.
● Kseniya Malashka was named Conference USA Player of the Week for the second time this season on Jan. 31. Malashka averaged 21.5 points, five rebounds and two steals in the two games, while shooting a sizzling 64 percent (14-of-22) from the field, including 4-of-7 (57 percent) from 3-point range.
● The Lady Raiders completed the conference weekly award sweep Jan. 31 with Anastasiia Boldyreva earning Conference USA Freshman of the Week. The 6-foot-6 center averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots against Marshall and WKU.
● Jalynn Gregory has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week twice. The Lafayette, Tenn. native is putting up 10.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
● MT's bench has been strong this season with the Lady Raider bench averaging 18.6 ppg., which is almost three times its average last season.
● The Lady Raiders are 148-80 overall on the road under Rick Insell.
About ODU
Old Dominion, picked second in the C-USA preseason poll, won its final eight non conference games and have won six of its last eight coming into Thursday.
Old Dominion leads the league in scoring defense, limiting opponents to 52.7 points per game and 35.8 shooting from the field. The Monarchs average 4.45 blocks and 11 steals per game.
Mariah Adams leads the team in steals (2.25) while Brianna Jackson averages 1.64 blocks per game.
Iggy Allen and Ajah Wayne combine to score 27.3 of the team's 63.5 points a game. Allen is 31-for-111 from 3-point range this season. No other Monarch has made more than 17 or attempted more than 69.
All-time series
● Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series, 7-5. The two teams split last season's series with ODU winning 74-57 and MT bouncing back the next day with a 74-70 win.

The C-USA preseason pick to win the conference has lost just once in conference play. Its last seven games have been decided by nine points or less, including a 57-55 win over FAU Feb. 7, back-to-back overtime wins against WKU and Marshall, and a four-overtime win vs. Rice.
Octavia Jett-Wilson is one of three C-USA players averaging at least 19 points per game this season. KeKe McKinney is the team leader in blocks per game (two) and rebounds per game (7.95). Jada McMillian leads all conference players in assists per game with 4.68.
The 49ers, like MT and ODU, are among the conference's top five teams in several defensive categories, including blocked shots (second), field goal percentage defense (fourth) and 3-point FG percentage defense (second).
