NEW ORLEANS – Middle Tennessee women's tennis (9-10, 1-3) fall on the wrong end of a 7-0 sweep against Tulane on Thursday, March 10. Inclement weather in the NOLA area leads to a cancellation against South Florida after competition started.
Against Tulane on Thursday, the Green Wave were in control throughout the entirety of the match.
Tulane captured two of three doubles flights to claim the doubles point over the Blue Raiders.
In singles, the Green Wave took five of six first sets over MT, Junior Muskan Gupta was the only Blue Raider to take a first set.
Four Blue Raiders fell in straight sets, Gupta and Senior Zani Barnard took their adversaries to three sets, ultimately falling in those efforts.
On Friday, March 11, MT had their start-time against South Florida bumped up to 11:00 a.m. to accommodate the impending weather. Coaches elected to begin the dual match with singles competition, court Nos. 1-5 completed their first set and were well into the second set as lightning was spotted in the nearby area.
Inclement weather eventually forced the cancellation of the match after a three-hour delay.
Next up
MT wil have 20 days off competition before heading to Huntington, W.Va. to square off with Conference USA foe Marshall and Cincinnati on April 1 and 2.
