Lady Raiders to face Wofford in WNIT first round

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will be participating in postseason basketball for the 18th consecutive season after gaining an invitation into the WNIT.
The Lady Raiders (23-7) will play host to Wofford (17-13) Thursday at 8 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
"I'm happy for our players that we have the chance to continue on because we have had a good season and this is a reward for all of the positive things this team has done throughout the season," said Lady Raider Head Coach Rick Insell, who has guided Middle Tennessee into the postseason for all of his 17 seasons, with the exception of 2019 when the postseason was canceled due to COVID-19.
"The WNIT is not the NCAA Tournament but it is the next best things and there are some outstanding teams in the tournament," Insell said. "We appreciation the opportunity to extend our season and represent Conference USA.
Tickets for the WNIT are $10 each and are general admission. Tickets can be purchased through the MTSU Ticket Office by clicking HERE. For MTSU students, come by the Murphy Center Box Office on day of the game and pick up your complimentary ticket by showing your student ID.
During Middle Tennessee's streak of 18 consecutive postseasons, it has played in the NCAA Tournament 12 times and the WNIT six.
Middle Tennessee is making its eighth appearance in the WNIT, where it has an all-time record of 7-7. The Lady Raiders reached the national quarterfinals of the event in 2015.
C-USA members Old Dominion, Louisiana Tech and North Texas also received invitations in the WNIT.
