MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee tips off its 51st season of women's basketball on Monday, Nov. 3, hosting Tennessee State inside the Murphy Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CT. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and broadcast on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
» This marks the 44th meeting in series history between the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and Tennessee State Tigers.
» MTSU owns a 33-10 lead over Tennessee State in the all-time series.
» The Blue Raiders won the previous meeting 94-53 in Murfreesboro on December 18, 2011.

» Middle Tennessee tips off its 51st season of women's basketball on Monday, Nov. 3, hosting Tennessee State at 10:30 a.m. (CT) inside the Murphy Center.
» This will be the 44th all-time meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Tigers.
» MTSU enters the matchup with a 31-19 record in season openers, including a 17-10 mark when opening the season at home.
» Under head coach Rick Insell, the Blue Raiders are 11-9 in season openers and 7-4 when those openers are played at the Murphy Center.
» The last time the Blue Raiders opened the season at home was in 2023-24. MTSU defeated to Memphis 67-47on Nov. 6.
» Education Day returns to the Glass House for the 12th time, with more than 5,000 Murfreesboro City Schools students expected to attend.
» The Blue Raiders hold a 10-1 record in Education Day games at the Murphy Center since the event began in 2012.
» Senior Alayna Contreras was selected to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team. The Minneapolis, Minn., native started all 33 games last year and led UMKC in scoring (17.3 ppg), minutes, field goals made, three-pointers made and free throws made.
» Middle Tennessee was picked third in the CUSA preseason poll. This marks only the sixth time in Rick Insell's 21 seasons — and just the fourth time in CUSA — that the Blue Raiders have not been selected as the preseason favorite.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
» Tennessee State women's basketball team enters the season looking to build momentum under head coach Candice Dupree's second season at the helm.
» The Tigers return a solid core from last year's group, blending experienced leadership with a talented crop of newcomers.
» TSU was predicted to finish eighth in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll voted on by league head coaches and communications directors.
» Sophomore guard Somah Kamara earned a spot on the OVC Preseason Watch List. Kamara made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2024-25, and she is expected to take on a larger role this season as a floor leader. She averaged 12.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists/game last season.
