JT Mabry ties career high with four hits in one game
The Blue Raiders (7-11, 0-1 C-USA) smacked 14 hits of their own on Friday, led by four off the bat of JT Mabry, who scored two of MT's runs and earned two RBIs in his five at-bats.
But, the Monarchs (15-1, 1-0 C-USA) were best able to take advantage of the wind blowing out to right-center field with their 24 hits, earning 21 of their 23 runs despite five Blue Raider errors. The Monarchs scored in every inning but the top of the eighth.
Mason Spiers went 2-for-4 at the dish, earning one RBI. Brycen Thomas played two runs through a pair of sac flies. Nathan Sanders and Jackson Galloway each smacked two hits in the losing effort.
On the mound, Jalen Wirtz struck out four batters in two innings of work, keeping his season ERA at 1.42 despite giving up a solo shot.
