Middle Tennessee Softball hosts Belmont for its final midweek matchup of the regular season on Wednesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball (18-25, 5-10 C-USA) hosts the Belmont Bruins (22-11, 13-4 OVC) on Wednesday, April 20 for its final regular season midweek matchup. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Blue Raider Softball Field.

Middle Tennessee enters Wednesday's contest with an 18-25 overall record and a 5-10 mark in C-USA play. The Blue Raiders are most recently coming off their series against Charlotte, in which the Blue Raiders fell 2-1 against the 49ers. In their series finale, the Blue Raiders rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score three unanswered runs and take the 3-2 win over the 49ers.
Freshman Laura Mealer and sophomore Amaya Harris have led the Blue Raiders this season. Mealer has batted a team-best .354 and has posted a slugging average of .638. The Bruins have been led by Cheyenne Cavanaugh, Kristen Green, and Baie Ensio. Cavanaugh is batting a team-leading .411, while connecting on a team-best 44 hits, tying for the team-lead with six doubles and two home runs. She also leads the Bruins in runs scored with 29 and has knocked in a team third-best 19 RBIs in 33 games this season. Green ranks second on the team with a .380 batting average but leads the Bruins in slugging with a .640. She has connected on a team second-best 38 hits, including a team-leading six home runs and is tied for the team lead with six doubles. She has also plated a team-leading 33 RBIs and is tied for a team second-best with 24 runs scored. Ensio is the third Bruin breaking .300 with a .347 batting average this season. Summers leads the Bruins with 11 complete-game performances, including one complete-game shutout against North Alabama.

Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series against Belmont, 28-6, including an impressive 14-2 record for contests in Murfreesboro. The Blue Raiders currently hold a four-game winning streak over the Bruins, dating back to April 19, 2017. In the last meeting between the two programs, the Blue Raiders earned a 4-3 win over the Bruins on March 13, 2019.

- Sophomore Jaya Herring had a career day in the Blue Raiders series finale against the 49ers. Herring went 2-for-3 at the plate, connecting on her first career double and tied her career-high with two runs scored.
- Sophomore Danielle Taitt had the best performance of her career this past Saturday, pitching her first-career complete game against the Charlotte 49ers, while also tying her career-high with two strikeouts in the Blue Raiders' 3-2 win.
