Middle Tennessee Softball hosts LA Tech for Senior Weekend

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball (19-28, 6-12 C-USA) rounds out its regular season home matches this weekend as the Blue Raiders host the LA Tech Lady Techsters (32-17, 12-6 C-USA) for their final home series of the regular season on Friday, April 29 – Sunday, May 1 at Blue Raider Softball Field. Game times are at 6 p.m., 4 p.m., and noon on Friday through Sunday, respectively.
This weekend's contests will be broadcast on CUSA.TV and fans can also follow along on live stats on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Middle Tennessee enters this weekend's series 19-28 overall and 6-12 in C-USA play. The Blue Raiders are just coming off their road series against the UTEP Miners, which the Blue Raiders fell 2-1. The Miners took the series opener 2-1, before the Blue Raiders evened up the series with an impressive 6-1 win over UTEP, however, the Miners took the series finale in a 4-3 seventh inning walk-off win to take the series finale.
The Blue Raiders have been led by freshmen Laura Mealer and Anyce Havey, as well as sophomore Amaya Harris so far during the 2022 season. Mealer is batting a team-leading .361, while slugging a team-high .618, and has connected on a team-best 52 hits, including a team-leading nine home runs and two triples, as well as six doubles this season. Mealer has also scored a team-high 32 runs and ranks second on the team with 27 RBIs. Harvey has batted a team second-best .327, while tying for third on the team with 37 hits, but leading the Blue Raiders with 28 RBIs and 11 doubles. She also ranks tied for second on the Blue Raiders with two home runs this season. Harris has batted a .312, ranking third on the Blue Raiders this season and has connected on a team second-best 44 hits, tying for second with a pair of home runs and connecting on four doubles. She has also scored a team second-best 20 runs and has plated a team third-best 11 RBIs.
Seniors Corrina Dodd and Gretchen Mead have led the Blue Raiders in the circle this season. Dodd has produced a team-low 2.65 ERA and has produced a team-best 6-4 record in 16 appearances this season. Dodd has pitched five complete games, including a complete-game shutout against Murray State, with 74 innings of work this season. She has allowed just 29 runs, 28 of which were earned, on 56 hits for the Blue Raiders. Mead ranks third on the team with a 3.68 ERA and holds a 4-9 record over 23 appearances in 2022. Mead leads the Blue Raiders with a career-best 83.2 innings pitched and has posted four complete games, including a complete-game shutout against Southern Miss. Mead also leads the Blue Raiders with a career-best 64 strikeouts so far during the 2022 campaign.
Scouting the Lady Techsters
LA Tech is in its first season under head coach, who has led the team to a 32-17 overall record and a 16-4 mark in C-USA play so far during his first season in Ruston.
The Lady Techsters enters this weekend's series as the second ranked team in C-USA West and on a three-game winning streak after a series sweep over the UAB Blazers. LA Tech took the series opener in six innings, 9-1, before earned a pair of one-run contests in game two and the rubber game, 4-3 and 3-2, respectively.
LA Tech is led by Sierra Sacco, Amanda Gonzalez, and Brooke Diaz. Sacco is batting a team-leading .437 and has connected on a team-best 69 hits, including seven doubles and three triples, as well as knocking in 17 RBIs and stealing a team-best 20 stolen bases. Gonzalez has batted a .343 with a team second-best 46 hits, including seven home runs, six doubles, and tied for a team second-best three triples. She has also scored 26 runs and pushed across 25 RBIs. Diaz ranks third on LA Tech with a .311 batting average, connecting on 41 hits, including a team-leading nine doubles and seven home runs. She also leads the Lady Techsters with 34 RBIs and has scored 16 runs during the 2022 season.
Audrey Pickett has led the Lady Techsters in the circle during the 2022 campaign. She boasts a 21-5 record with a team-low 2.28 ERA over 30 appearances this season. Pickett has pitched a team-leading 174.2 innings, allowing 76 runs, 57 of which were earned, on 169 hits and striking out a team-high 93 batters in 2022.
Series History
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series between the Blue Raiders and the Lady Techsters, 8-7. At Blue Raider Softball Field, the Blue Raiders hold a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series. However, LA Tech secured the last meeting between the two programs, taking a 10-0 run-rule victory on May 9, 2019, in the C-USA Tournament Quarterfinals.

- Sophomore Ashlee Jacoway produced the best performance of her career this past Saturday against the UTEP Miners. Jacoway went 1-for-2 in the contest, connecting on her first career home run in her second at-bat of the season, while also knocking in a career-high three RBIs and scoring a career-high two runs against the Miners.
- Freshman Laura Mealer led the Blue Raiders against the Miners, going 6-for-11 (.545), and scoring a team-best three runs and knocking in one RBI.
- Junior Kelci Hill also had a good weekend against UTEP, tying for a team-best three RBIs and batting .400 (4-for-10). She also connected on a pair of doubles and scored one run in the weekend series.
- Head coach Jeff Breeden holds an all-time record of 209-297 and won his 200th career game as a head coach this season against UT Martin during the Blue Raiders' MTSU Invitational on March 10. Coach Breeden is in his 10th season as the head coach of the Blue Raiders.
