Wigginton Earns Conference USA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – For the first time this season, a Blue Raider is a Conference USA baseball player of the week.
After his complete-game shutout Friday in MT's 7-0 win over Rice, Middle Tennessee senior left-handed pitcher Peyton Wigginton has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week by league officials Monday.
Wigginton pitched his second complete game of the season, his second-career complete-game shutout and the third pitched by a Blue Raider in 2022. A native of Franklin, Tenn., Wigginton struck out a season-high 10 batters and held the Owls to two hits in the win. The southpaw retired the first nine owls he faced and struck out seven across his final three innings.
The recognition marks Wigginton's first conference pitcher of the week nod of his career and the first weekly league honor by a Blue Raider since Aaron Brown was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week almost a year ago on May 17, 2021.
Middle Tennessee won all four games last week and are set to play two nationally ranked opponents this week in Vanderbilt (May 17) and Southern Miss (May 19-21).
