Both teams combined to hit seven home runs, tying the most home runs hit in a Conference USA championship game since 2007 (Rice vs. Memphis).
Trailing 4-0 in the second, Mason Speirs hit a three-run home run, his team-leading ninth home run of the season, which cut the Blue Raider deficit to one.
A seven-run Monarch fourth inning helped ODU take control at 11-3.
Brett Coker hit the second Blue Raider three-run home run of the day in the sixth inning on a blast into the left field trees, bringing MT within 11-6.
ODU responded with another seven-run outburst in the bottom half of the sixth to make it 18-6. Wyatt Morgan's RBI single in the top of the seventh scored the seventh Blue Raider run of the day and concluded the scoring.
MT will play the loser of Louisiana Tech and Charlotte Thursday at 9 a.m. in a win-or-go-home situation.
