Blue Raider Baseball Summer Notes

Following a return to postseason play for the second consecutive season, members of the Blue Raider baseball squad returned to collegiate summer league play throughout the country to continue improving toward the goal of a conference title and a trip to Omaha next spring. Below is a roundup of both where some of your favorite Blue Raiders played along with an update on how their summers have gone.
RHP Jack Julian, Chattanooga Yankees - Julian was able to pitch locally this summer in an adult league with the Chattanooga Yankees, just outside his hometown of Hixson, TN. Following multiple midweek starts this past season for the Blue Raiders, Julian will compete for one of the weekend spots vacated by Peyton Wigginton and Zack Keenan, who both signed professional contracts following the conclusion of the 2022 season. According to the Yankees team page, Julian won the lone game he pitched in, striking out seven in five innings of work while also garnering 12 at-bats over the course of the short season.
INF Wyatt Morgan, New Market Rebels - Morgan, a mainstay in the Blue Raider lineup this past season, spent time in the Valley Baseball League with the New Market Rebels. Morgan helped the Rebels to a record of 18-18 in the wood-bat league going into the final week of the season and was one of seven infielders listed on the roster.
RHP Eriq Swan, Wareham Gatemen - Swan has separated himself as one of the best bullpen arms this summer for the Wareham Gatemen of the prestigious Cape Cod League. After making a few starts at the beginning of the summer, the flamethrowing righty solidified his spot in the backend of the Gatemen's bullpen after tossing three scoreless innings in relief with eight strikeouts on June 25. Over a total of eight innings out of the 'pen scattered across three relief appearances, Swan has yet to allow a run.
INF Brett Coker, C/1B Briggs Rutter, Amsterdam Mohawks - Perhaps two of the most impactful returners for the Blue Raiders this season teamed up with the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate League this summer. Both guys were a huge part in helping the Mohawks achieve a club record 14th win in a row following a July 17th win over the Saugerties Stallions. Coker was within the top five players in the league with a .367 average while Rutter caught a trio of pitchers that found themselves within the top five in the league in both wins and strikeouts.
RHP/IF Jackson Marbet, LHP/OF Jacob Wright, RHP Brayden Siren, IF/OF Eston Snider - Madisonville Miners - The Ohio Valley League's Madisonville Miners had Blue Raiders aplenty on this summer's team. Snider displayed his great speed as an outfielder and swung the bat well, hitting an impressive .474 with a pair of home runs and stolen bases. Wright spent time both as a defensive replacement and as a reliever, striking out 12 in nine innings of work out of the bullpen. Siren struck out 29 over 24.2 innings of work out of the bullpen and Marbet saw action on the mound, as well.
RHP Daniel Dewey, RHP Jalen Wirtz, Full Count Rhythm - Dewey and Wirtz had the opportunity to compete against the Middle Tennessee fivesome on the Miners as members of the Ohio Valley League's Full Count Rhythm. Both guys saw action out of the bullpen as true freshman for the Blue Raiders last spring and helped the Rhythm to a 20-20 record.
RHP Justin Goldstein, Bismark Larks - Goldstein has been one of the regular options out of the bullpen for the Bismark Larks of the Northwoods League. In 16 appearances, Goldstein has compiled a 2-3 record with only earned runs allowed in 30 innings of work.
INF JT Mabry, Madison Mallards - The Middle Tennessee second baseman returned to summer league play after taking a summer off to work on his own last year, manning second base for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League. In 32 games, Mabry has a .320 on-base percentage and 31 total hits with 15 RBIs. Defensively, he has a team-high 100 assists with a 975 fielding percentage.
1B Jacob Williams, Woodstock Riverbandits - Williams hit three doubles, drove in three runs and walked seven times in 18 games as a Riverbandit. Finishing the regular season 27-15, Woodstock won the Valley Baseball League's North Division and secured the top seed in the league heading into the playoffs.
C/P Mason McLeod, Sarasota Cat5 - While playing summer ball in the sunshine state, McLeod was named to the Florida Gulf Coast League North Division All-Star team July 9 in Bradenton, Fla.
