Blue Raiders send three to Grover Page Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee men's golf will send three players to the Grover Page Classic this week, hosted by UT Martin at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. Tate Heintzelman, Drew Miller and Markus Varjun will represent the Blue Raiders as individuals as part of the 96-player field.
MTSU is coming off a season-opening second-place finish in which it nearly outlasted Southern Miss, finishing one stroke behind the eventual champion at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. Owen Stamper was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week after finishing second individually, one stroke behind the winner.
The Blue Raiders are coming off a 2021-22 season that saw six top-five finishes, including back-to-back wins to open the spring season. Defending Conference USA Individual Medalist Michael Barnard is one of six Blue Raiders returning as Mark McEntire has brought in four newcomers to reload for 2022-23.

NOTES
- Owen Stamper tied the lowest round of his collegiate career with a 66 in the third round and set a new 54-hole personal best with a 206 (-10) for the tournament.
- Kevin Jegers recorded individual victories in back-to-back tournaments, each time setting the program 54-hole record.
- Heintzelman and Miller will be making their Blue Raider debuts this week.
- MTSU returns three of its four players who played in 30 rounds or more in '21-22, including Barnard, Jegers, and Owen Stamper.
- The four newcomers to the '22-23 roster include Power 5 transfers Drew Miller (Ole Miss) and Tate Heintzelman (Indiana), and true freshman Sheldon McKnight and Luke Perkins.
- Also joining the Blue Raider program are former letterman Payne Denman, who returns as an assistant coach, and former MTSU tennis player Chris Edge, who will serve as a graduate assistant.
- Carter Maneth made his Blue Raider debut at the No. 4 spot in the lineup in last week's tournament.
- The Blue Raiders enter the week ranked No. 56 in the Golfweek Collegiate Team Rankings and No. 76 in the most recent Golfstat rankings, which were published June 2.
