Women’s tennis starts 2023 campaign in Florida

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis is set to begin the 2023 spring slate in Fort Myers, Fla. on Jan. 13 at 11:30 a.m. against Liberty and Jan. 14 at 8 a.m. against Florida Gulf Coast.
The Blue Raiders will serve up the start of the season on the campus of FGCU, where they will take on Liberty in their season opener. The next day, the team will take on FGCU to wrap up the tournament before heading back home. FGCU finished last year ranked No. 71.
Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall enters her fifth season at the realm of the Blue Raiders. She enters the 2023 spring season with a 42-45 (.483) overall record as a head coach at Middle Tennessee.
The team returns five players from last year: Love-Star Alexis, Muskan Gupta, Noelle Mauro, Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Eloise Swarbrick.
Five true freshmen made their way to Murfreesboro over the summer:
Camila Barragan – Lechería, Venezuela
Rutuja Chaphalkar – Pune, India
Sana Garakani – Lisbon, Portugal
Cara Szilasi – Gallatin, Tenn.
Karen Yibirin – Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
