Middle Tennessee Concludes Regular Season Friday Night with Senior Night Against FIU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer will conclude its 2023 campaign at home against the FIU Panthers. ESPN+ will broadcast the match, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Dean A. Hayes Stadium.
After the fixture, seniors Eleanor Gough, Lauren Spaanstra, Jackie Reilly and graduate transfer Kaitlyn Butcher will be recognized.
Notes and Storylines
» The Blue Raiders see FIU for the 26th time in program history, renewing the most common series in Middle Tennessee history. The sides have faced as members of both the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA. MTSU leads the series 16-8-1, but will look to avenge a 3-0 season-ending setback last year in Miami.
» Manon Lebargy scored in the 5' Sunday as the Blue Raiders cruised to a 3-0 wire-to-wire win at Jacksonville State. The Lille, France native leads the team with seven goals this season, with a pair of braces against Lipscomb and Chicago State. Lebargy is tied for third in CUSA in overall goals, and third in points with 17.
» Spaanstra had her second multi-assist match of the season and the third of her career Sunday at Jacksonville State, accounting for goals by Lebargy and Gough in the 55', both on set pieces. The native of Franklin, Tenn. leads the squad with five assists. That mark is also good for tied first in CUSA in conference matches, and tied for second across all matches.
» Gough has scored two 87' goals for the Blue Raiders this year. She had the match-winner in a 1-0 victory at Howard Aug. 27 before equalizing at Tennessee Tech on Sept. 17 in a 2-2 draw.
The Milton Keynes, England native also has the earliest goal scored in a match this year for the Blue Raiders, opening the scoring against Sam Houston Oct. 8 in the 9'. She followed with a 34' minute goal Oct. 12 against UTEP and a second half goal at Jacksonville State. Gough's five goals are second among Blue Raiders.
» Caroline Manley surpassed Vanessa Mueggler on Oct. 8 for most minutes played in Blue Raider history. Manley—a graduate student from Arlington, Tenn.—has not missed a match or start since beginning her MTSU career in 2019, which includes a run of 76 matches and starts. She has played 5,846 consecutive minutes since Oct. 11, 2019, and has 7,122 total minutes under her belt across her historic career, and is the first Blue Raider to enter the 7,000 career minute club. Manley will also finish her career in the top 10 in games started and games played.
Suder meanwhile stands in the top 10 of numerous program goalkeeping records, including being fourth in career saves (234), fourth in games started (60), third in games played (65) and third in minutes played (5,510:32).
Behind Enemy Lines
» FIU will conclude its best regular season since joining CUSA with Middle Tennessee in 2013. The Panthers carry an 8-4-4 overall record into Friday and stand at 3-1-3 in league fixtures. The South Florida program lost for the first time in league play last Sunday, a 2-1 home decision to LA Tech.
» The Panthers lead the league with 2.25 goals per game. Junior Nikole Solis is first on the team and in CUSA with nine goals and 21 points.
» Jonathan Garbar heads the program, and is in his fourth year at the helm.
