Women’s tennis set to host the MTSU Invitational this weekend

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis is home for the first and only time in the fall 2023 season as the Blue Raiders host the MTSU Invitational on Oct. 6-8 at the Adams Tennis Complex.
The tournament will be hidden duals consisting of matches in singles and doubles in a format with a similar style to a spring collegiate dual match. No team scores will be recorded, but matches count for each individual player and doubles team's rankings.
This invite will be the first action for most of the team this fall. Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Lena Peyer competed at the TSU Fall Invite. The duo of Schmidt of Peyer won their doubles match. Schmidt tallied a singles win. Peyer won both of her singles matches at the invite.
The Blue Raiders return six from last season's squad. Sana Garakani and Schimdt will hope to continue their great play from last spring.
The team added three transfers and one freshman. Hrudaya Shah will see her first action as a Blue Raider this weekend.
Five teams are competing along with MTSU in Murfreesboro this weekend: Bellarmine, Eastern Kentucky, Lipscomb, Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.
