Blue Raiders Wrap Up Play at ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team concluded three days of fall competition, showcasing commendable performances in both singles and doubles.
The Blue Raiders began the weekend with two singles victories. Rutuja Chaphalkar made a comeback for a three-set win over Eastern Kentucky's Mariia Fedenko, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Chaphalkar secured another victory later, defeating Indiana's Mansi Vadyala, 6-3, 7-6 (4). Sthefany Rodrigues de Lima was defeated by Cincinnati's Sara Watanabe, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Sadbaroy Kholdarova fell in two closely contested matches to East Tennessee State's Mariangel Estrella (6-3, 6-4) and Murray State's Sofia Issakova (7-5, 1-6, [10-7]). Rodrigues de Lima lost to Chattanooga's Emma Pedretti in a super tiebreak, 3-6, 6-2, [10-5].
Middle Tennessee excelled in doubles, achieving two convincing wins. Rodrigues de Lima and Chaphalkar defeated Indianapolis' Sara Jankovic and Kallyhan Kadzinski, 8-1. Lena Peyer and Kholdarova won against Murray State's Sofia Issakova and Valeria Chaikovskaia, 8-2. In singles play, the Blue Raiders faced formidable opponents from SEC and Power Five conferences. Tennessee's Vanesa Suarez defeated Peyer, 6-1, 6-0. Vanderbilt's Valeria Ray bested Chaphalkar, 6-4, 6-0.

Suarez and Saray Yli-Piipari (Tennessee) defeated Rodrigues de Lima and Chaphalkar, 8-2. Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso (Tennessee) triumphed over Peyer and Kholdarova, 8-2. The Blue Raiders will return to action next weekend as fall tournament play continues.
