FORT MYERS, Fla. — Middle Tennessee State concluded a two-match weekend in Fort Myers with a split result, achieving a 6–1 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday and suffering a 7–0 defeat to Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders started the weekend strongly against Florida A&M, winning all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Sophomore Sara Conde and freshman Zora Koenig led with a 6–2 victory at No. 1, followed by wins from junior Lena Peyer and senior Zenn Lim, as well as freshman Sthefany Lima and senior Rutuja Chaphalkar.
Middle Tennessee maintained this momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches. Chaphalkar, Lima, Koenig, Lim, and Conde all recorded straight-set victories, allowing the team to clinch the match early. Florida A&M's sole point came at No. 6 singles, where Luiza Edelwein defeated senior Karen Yibirin in a third-set super tiebreak.
On Sunday, Middle Tennessee showed competitiveness across the lineup, with several singles matches extending to three sets, notably featuring tight contests from Koenig, Lim, and Conde. However, FGCU largely controlled the momentum throughout the day.
