MTSU welcomes Sam Houston on Saturday and Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team are set to host the Sam Houston Bearkats on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8. The Saturday match will be at 6 p.m. CT and the Sunday match will be at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will be live streamed on ESPN+ and have live stats to follow along.
The Blue Raiders are back at home this weekend after being on the road at FIU midweek. MTSU split the matches with the Panthers and handed FIU their first loss in conference play. The Blue Raiders are second in Conference USA in hitting percentage with a hitting percentage of .283.
Sophomore Adri Rhoda is the reigning CUSA Offensive Player of the Week and senior Taylor Eisert is the reigning CUSA Setter of the Week. This is Eisert's third time earning this award this season.
Eisert is first in conference in assists per set earning 11.05 per set. Eisert became the fourth Blue Raider all-time to surpass the 3,000-career assist mark on Tuesday. Redshirt senior Kayla Henley leads the team in kills with 209 tallying 3.22 per set and she reached the 1,000-career kill mark on Tuesday as well. Junior Laure Jansen has been outstanding on both sides of the ball earning 153 kills and 156 digs. Graduate student Kaylee Oscarson is third in conference in hitting percentage with a .391 hitting clip. Oscarson is four solo blocks away from reaching 100 career solo blocks.
Scouting Sam Houston Bearkats
Sam Houston is 7-12 and 1-5 in CUSA play so far this season. In the last match, the Bearkats swept LA Tech 3-0. Sam Houston returns 10 players from last year. The Bearkats have added one transfer and six freshmen. Sam Houston is second in conference is digs per set earning 16.36 per set.
On offense, Junior McKenzie Morvant leads the team in kills with 179. Not too far behind is junior Alyssa Fielder with 174 kills. Sophomore Avery Fowler has 444 assists so far this season.
On defense, Morvant has totaled 60 blocks earning .9 per set. Junior Hannah Baker is first in conference in digs per set earning 5.19. Baker has recorded 358 digs this season.
This will be the first Conference USA match between the two programs. This is the second meeting between the two programs. The last meeting was in 1990 with the Bearkats winning 3-0.

- Eisert broke the program record for career assists in the current 25-point era. The Louisville, Ky. native is the fourth Blue Raider all-time to reach 3,000 career assists. This season, she is a three-time CUSA Setter of the Week. Eisert was tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week on 9/12. She leads conference in assists per set with 11.05.
