Thad Whitfield joins Blue Raider golf

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's golf has added Thad Whitfield to the family. The Signal Mountain, Tenn., native will join the Blue Raiders for the 2024-25 season.
"Middle Tennessee is a familiar spot for Thad, as he has been a fixture in the Stallings Cup matches at the Grove throughout his junior golf career," head coach Mark McEntire said. "He has played in every major junior event you can play. Thad is a fierce competitor and has a great personality! We are very happy to welcome him and his family to the program."
Whitfield comes to MTSU out of McCallie School in Chattanooga, where he notched a fourth-place finish in the Division II-AA state championship.
Whitfield is fresh off a strong summer. He finished fourth at the 2023 Tennessee Junior PGA Championship in June and qualified for the US Junior Amateur Championship. He also finished fifth at the Huntsville.org Junior Championship with a score of 209.
Whitfield is the son of Thad and Carol Whitfield. He plans to major in Business at MTSU.
