RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders picked up two wins on Friday in Riverside, California beating Montana 1-0 and UC Riverside 7-2 to improve to a 2-1 record to start the 2023 season.
Pitching shined for the Blue Raiders on Friday as transfer Kamryn Carcich tossed a shutout against Montana recording eight strikeouts. In game two, Keri Munn started in the circle, but freshman Paige Connors took over in the second inning to get the win.
At the plate, Laura Mealer had four RBIs in game two coming from a three-run home run late in the game. Savannah Behabetz also came up big against the Highlanders with two hits.

"We played with a lot of effort today and it was a total team win in game one. Kamryn dominanted the game in the circle and we used our team speed on offense to get five stolen bases.
"The back-to-back home runs from Mealer and [Ansley] Blevins were the icing on the cake in game two to beat a good UC Riverside team. We have a tough test tomorrow against Fresno State, but if we execute our offensive the way we did today, we will produce runs."
