MTSU bounces back with two wins on Friday

STATESBORO, Ga. – Middle Tennessee softball went two-for-two on Friday, defeating North Carolina A&T and Georgia Southern to improve to 9-3 on the season.
The Blue Raiders won the first game against North Carolina A&T, 8-0, where Keri Munn pitched five scoreless innings to get the win, her second of the season. MTSU scored three runs in the first, two in the second and three in the third.
Shelby Echols went 3-for-3 at the plate. The Blue Raiders tallied a total of 11 hits.
In the second game of the day, Laura Mealer opened the game with a two-run home run in the top of the first. In the top of third, Anyce Harvey and Ansley Blevins each had an RBI to extend the lead to 4-0. Mealer hit a double to score Echols and give MTSU a 5-0 in the fourth. Harvey added two more RBIs with a double to right field as the Blue Raiders led 7-0. In the top of the fifth, MTSU scored two more runs. The Eagles would then score two runs in the bottom of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, the Blue Raiders scored two more runs to extend the lead to 11-2.
Gretchen Mead earned the win in the circle in the Blue Raiders' second win of the day.
