Stamper moves up leaderboard in second round of Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

HENDERSON, Nev. — Owen Stamper advanced up the leaderboard Tuesday, finishing the second round of the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate in second place overall. Middle Tennessee men's golf finished the round tied for ninth place in the event hosted jointly by Louisiana and Arkansas State at Reflection Bay Golf Club.
Stamper started hot, birdieing his first three holes of the day and five of the first nine without a bogey. On a day in which scores were roughly two strokes higher on average, the Scottsville, Ky., native delivered a repeat performance of his first-round score of 69 (-3). He heads into the second round one stroke off the individual lead at 138 (-6).
Michael Barnard moved 25 spots up the leaderboard Tuesday, carding a 72 (E) with six birdies of his own. He is currently tied for 42nd at 145 (+3).
The Blue Raiders combined for a team score of 294 (+6) and has a two-round total of 587 (+11).
Kevin Jegers birdied two of his first six holes but slipped to a tie for 22nd in the second round with a 75 (+3). His 36-hole score is 145 (+1) heading into the final round.
Markus Varjun and Gavin Clements carded identical rounds of 78 (+6). Varjun is tied for 69th at 155 (+11), while Clements rounds out the MTSU lineup in a tie for 73rd at 156 (+12).
Playing as an individual, Luke Perkins finished the day tied for 61st at 153 (+9). Carter Maneth, also competing as an individual, is tied for 79th at 160 (+16).

36 – Barnard was par or better for the 36th round of his career, the most among active Blue Raiders and 11th-most in program history.

"Another great round from Owen today. He's got a chance to win a golf tournament, which would be incredible for our program. It was also a nice come back from Michael today.
The golf course played very difficult today. With a good round tomorrow we can move up in the top five,w and it would be a successful week."
