Blue Raiders win four events at the Jaguar Invitational

Birmingham, Ala. – Middle Tennessee's track and field teams completed this weekend's competition and won four events in Birmingham.
Event Wins
· Lesego Mpshe won the women's mile race with a time of 5:01.61 in her first time running the event this indoor season.
· Senior Purity Sanga won the women's 3000m with a time of 9:43.82.
· Esther Isa continued her dominance in the women's long jump with another first-place finish and a mark of 5.91m.
· Akera Benton won in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.76m.
Men's Top Performances
· Alaba Akintola ran in the men's 200m where he placed second with a time of 21.34.
· In the men's mile there were three standout performances from Koos Molutsi, Habtamu Geta, and Hillary Kimaiyo all setting new personal best times.
Women's Top Performances
· Joice Jebor was right behind teammate Lesego Mpshe in the women's mile where she finished third and a time of 5:04.91.
· Lyn'Nikka Vance placed third in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.73m.
· The women's 4x400 meter relay team finished second with Leonie Beu, Esther Isa, Pamela Milano, and Glory Nyenke running a time of 3:51.696.

"Always nice to check out the facility we will be competing at in a couple weeks. Several athletes showed toughness by setting personal bests and hopefully when we comeback in two weeks the whole team will be ready to go."

The team will be back in Nashville, Tenn. at Vanderbilt University on Feb. 10–11.
