Blue Raiders Pick up first Conference Win

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball gets its first conference win of the season after an 8-0, five-inning win.
The Blue Raiders put up six runs in the second inning to get out to an early six-run lead. The rally started with a lead-off double by Anyce Harvey followed by an RBI double by Julia Garcia. Later in the inning, Laura Mealer drove in two more runs with a double of her own making it 5-0. Ava Tepe then extended the lead to six runs with an RBI single to score Mealer.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, MTSU added two more runs coming off a double by Shelby Echols that scored Amaya Harris.
Gretchen Mead threw a five-inning shutout to lead the Blue Raiders in the circle to their first conference victory.
By the Numbers
· Five doubles for MTSU in tonight's game vs. UAB.
· Laura Mealer leads the team with nine doubles on the season.
· Gretchen Mead's ERA is now 1.66 after today's game.
