Julia Garcia Gives the Blue Raiders the win in extra innings

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball gets its seventh straight win in an extra-inning thriller over UAB 2-1.
The Blue Raiders didn't score until the bottom of the seventh, but Kamryn Carcich held the Blazers to just one run in the game to keep MTSU in it.
In the bottom of the seventh, Anyce Harvey hit a leadoff single to give MTSU a base runner. Shelby Sargent then drove her in and advanced to second where she was stranded. The game was tied 1-1 heading into extra innings.
Sargent comes up big again in extras by throwing out the Blazers go-ahead run at home plate. The Blue Raiders come back up to the plate and have runners on after a leadoff single from Amaya Harris. UAB pitches around Mealer to bring up Julia Garcia with the bases loaded. Garcia was the hero for the Blue Raiders as she hit a line drive off the center field fence to win it for MTSU.
By the Numbers
· Kamryn Carcich pitched 7.2 innings and allowed only one run on four hits.
· The Blue Raiders have two extra inning wins on the season.
· MTSU improves to 2-0 in conference play.
