Four Blue Raiders par or lower in final round of Salem Regional

SALEM, S.C. — Middle Tennessee men's golf dropped a 73 from its team score in the third round of the NCAA Salem Regional on Wednesday, with Kevin Jegers leading the way at 69 (-3). After entering the postseason as the No. 11 seed in the regional, the Blue Raiders carded a 282 (-6) at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls, finishing the event in 11th place at 856 (-8).
MTSU's 54-hole score was its third-lowest relative to par this season. Its score of 282 in the second tied the fifth-lowest team round of the year.
Jegers bogeyed only one hole Wednesday, picking up four birdies. He finished the tournament tied for 34th at 212 (-4).
Michael Barnard was the Blue Raiders' highest finisher in the tournament, tying for 27th at 211 (-5). He picked up four birdies of his own in the third round, but his 73 (+1) was the score MTSU dropped Wednesday.
Owen Stamper shot a 70 (-2) in the third round. He tied for 43rd at 214 (-2) after picking up three birdies compared to just one bogey Wednesday. His 15 birdies in the tournament led the Blue Raiders.
Gavin Clements picked up six birdies in the third round on his way to a 71 (-1). He finished 70th at 226 (+10).
Markus Varjun closed the tournament with a 72 (E) to finish 68th at 224 (+8).

We just did not have the firepower to make it through the regional this year, but I look forward to this team returning, learning from this experience and making it to the national championship next year."

Tournament Notes
- Georgia Tech, Arkansas, North Carolina, New Mexico and the winner of a playoff between Texas A&M and Clemson will advance to the NCAA Championship.
- North Carolina's Ryan Burnett was the individual champion with a score of 199 (-17).
- Furman's Sam Lape earned a bid to the NCAA Championship as the top individual not on an advancing team.
