Akintola to run in the 100-meter and 200-meter at the NCAA Outdoor Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's men's track and field team will be represented by Alaba Akintola at the NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
Akintola advanced to the 100-meter and 200-meter Semi-finals in the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second consecutive year.

The Meet Schedule
The outdoor meet will kick off on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. CT with Akintola running in the 100-meter and the 200-meter shortly after at 8:45 p.m. CT.

Last Time Out for the Blue Raiders – NCAA East Preliminaries
Alaba Akintola punched his ticket to Austin, Texas to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships by qualifying for the men's 100-meter and 200-meter Semi-finals.
Men's Top Performances
· Alaba Akintola placed fourth in the men's 200-meter quarterfinals with a personal best time of 20.03s. In the 100-meter quarterfinals he ran a time of 10.08s to qualify.
· Stephen Eloji ran a time of 13.60s in the men's 110-meter Hurdles first round to qualify for the quarterfinals where he ran a 13.78s.
· Carmelo Cannizzaro ran in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:01.64s

"Our guys performed fantastic with some of the best competition in the country. Alaba making it in two events is very hard to do but he is consistent which pays off in competition. Stephen ran one of the toughest races on the track with the wind gusting. Carmelo finished off the season with one of his best races, coming into the competition at 47th and finishing 25th."
