Nyathi and Kiptoo named CUSA Athletes of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Faith Nyathi was named the Women's Athlete of the Week announced by the Conference USA office Tuesday afternoon. Brian Kiptoo was also announced as the CUSA Male Athlete of the Week.
Nyathi, a junior from Zimbabwe earned the award in consecutive attempts to start the cross country season for Middle Tennessee. Meanwhile, Kiptoo won the weekly award for the first time in his career after just two races for the Blue Raiders.
Last weekend in Huntsville, Alabama, Nyathi led the way for the Blue Raiders with a sixth-place finish behind five runners representing SEC schools. Her time of 16:50.20 was a personal-best and fourth place finish behind runners from Ole Miss, Auburn, and Alabama.
Kiptoo led the way for the men's team with a third-place finish and new personal best time of 23:36.90s. The Blue Raiders finished top-five with a total score of 141 for their second top-five finish of the season.
Next Up for the Blue Raiders
The Blue Raider men's and women's cross country team will travel to Chicago, Ill. for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on September 29.
