Blue Raiders win 7-1 in Fall Season Opener

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball won their fall season opener against Volunteer State Community College 7-1 Thursday evening at Blue Raider Softball Field.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early lead after scoring two first inning runs. Julia Garcia scored two on a double down the right field line.
Shelby Echols, Ansley Blevins and Garcia all doubled in the third inning to extend the lead to four.
Shelby Sargent and Mary Owens came across the plate late in the game to increase the lead to six.
Claire Woods started the game in the circle tossing three scoreless innings against the Pioneers. Kamryn Carcich took over from there holding the Pioneers at zero through six innings.
Keri Munn came in and threw six strikeouts in her three innings of work and Mary Martinez closed out the game giving MTSU the 7-1 win in the fall opener.
