MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball won their fall exhibition game against Lipscomb 5-4 Friday evening at Blue Raider Softball Field.
Quote from Head Coach Jeff Breeden
"Jesyne pitched well tonight in her first start and Martinez came in and closed the game for us. Garcia swung the bat well again and got our offense going."
The Blue Raiders struck first after Julia Garcia drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the first inning. The Bison threatened with bases-loaded to start the top half of the second, but a line drive double play held them scoreless.
A back and forth third inning started with a two-run homerun by Lipscomb cutting the Blue Raiders lead to just one. Garcia then hit her fourth double of the fall season to increase the lead to three in the bottom of the third.
The Bison put up a run in both the fourth and fifth inning making it 5-4 in favor of the Blue Raiders.
Freshman Jesyne Espinal started the game in the circle throwing three innings against the Bison. Kamryn Carcich and Keri Munn came in and threw just one inning of relief in the fourth and fifth innings.
Mary Martinez took over in the sixth and held Lipscomb scoreless giving MTSU the 5-4 win over Lipscomb.
