Blue Raiders fall to Mississippi State 4-2 on Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis competed against Mississippi State on Saturday, January 13 in Starkville, Miss. The Blue Raiders fell to the Bulldogs 4-2.
The Bulldogs took the doubles point winning on court No. 2 and 3. On court No. 1, Rutuja Chaphalkar and Cassidy Mataia 6-3 against Rizzolo/Mikhailuk.
MSU won on court No. 2 to begin singles. Freshman Lena Peyer won seven straight games at one point to win 7-5, 6-2 on court No. 4 against Pitta. The Bulldogs would extend the lead to 3-1 winning on court No. 3. On court No. 5, Eloise Swarbrick tallied a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory over Niroshan.

"Overall, the girls played very well and fought hard. There were chances to win that we didn't take and we will focus on improving that going forward. We had a solid weekend and looking forward to the rest of the season."
