Blue Raiders defeat Chattanooga 6-1 on Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis traveled to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take on Mocs on Saturay, Jan. 20. MTSU tallied a 6-1 victory over the Mocs.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point by winning on court No. 3 and No. 2. Lena Peyer and Cara Szilasi won on court No. 3 by forfeit. On court No. 2, Sana Garakani and Eloise Swarbrick claimed the doubles point by winning 6-3 against Peeler and Pedretti.
To begin singles, Rutuja Chaphalkar won by forfeit on court No. 6 to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. On court No. 4, Peyer remains undefeated in singles this season by tallying a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Manolache. Redshirt junior Ilaria Sposetti earned her first singles win as a Blue Raider and clinched the win for MTSU by defeating Hall 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 on court No. 3. On court No. 1, Garakani battled back from losing the first set 6-4 to win the next two 7-6 (6), 6-1 against Dohanlova. The Mocs win on court No. 5. To cap off the day, Cassidy Mataia won 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 on court No. 2.
