Andi Spies Wins CUSA Freshman of the Week for a Third Time

Spies takes home award after MTSU’s 2-0 week
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Freshman setter Andi Spies was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday, October 7. This week marks the third time Spies has taken home the award, just six weeks into the season.
Middle Tennessee volleyball hosted FIU this past weekend, with the Blue Raiders winning both matches. Spies stuffed the stat sheet across those two matches, affecting the matches in multiple ways. The Fort Atkinson, Wis. native recorded 79 assists across seven sets, good for 11.29 assists/set. She also added nine kills and four service aces to her offensive output. Defensively, Spies tallied 16 digs and six blocks.
Freshman Andi Spies has had a terrific start to her freshman season through 16 of the 30 scheduled matches for Middle Tennessee volleyball in 2024. Spies has recorded 40 or more assists in eight matches and 30 or more assists in 13 of the Blue Raiders matches this season. Amongst Conference USA, Spies ranks eighth in service aces with 21 and is second in assists/set with 9.23. Nationally, Spies ranks 41st in total assists with 572. The freshman setter is also one of 25 student-athletes to record a triple-double this season and the only one in CUSA.
